Constant increase in electric SWS circuit activity
2024-09-25

Since the launch of the E-Sprint Cup category in January 2022, SWS events in the ‘electric’ format have continued to grow. At the same time, the number of active tracks has grown to 34 worldwide.

The first E-Sprint Cup races took place at the beginning of 2022, particularly in Sweden, and helped to kick-start the activity while promoting the electric product in the Sodikart range. As the year progressed, the number of circuits gradually increased, reaching a total of 12 a few months later.

In October 2022, the decision to organise an International E-Sprint Final has further boosted track activity at the end of the season, increasing the number of circuits from 12 to 20 by December 2022. For this International E-Sprint Final, organised in Sweden in the first year, drivers will be selected via a ‘track quota’, enabling the best drivers from each circuit to qualify directly.

The following year, 8 additional circuits began their SWS activity by organising their first E-Sprint Cup races in the 2023 season, enabling their best drivers to qualify for the second edition of the International E-Sprint Final in Payerne, Switzerland. The number of drivers in the E-Sprint ranking has increased by 54% from 608 in 2022 to 936 in 2023.

Today, a total of 34 active tracks in 18 different countries are part of the success story of the SWS electric activity around the world. France remains the best represented country with 9 circuits ahead of Belgium, Italy and Finland, with 3 active tracks in each country. At the end of September 2024, there were a total of 937 drivers in the international E-Sprint Cup 2024 ranking, which is in fact a new record even before the end of the season.

Given this significant increase, the number of places for the 2025 International E-Sprint Final will not be 84 as initially planned in the regulations...

Finally, a total of 98 drivers will qualify via the track rankings to take the 100% electric title in May 2025 at Wavre Indoor Karting in Belgium.
